Amazon Smart Vehicle
Driving Simulator
As the lead Design Technologist of the group I was tasked to create Prototypes that we could drive around and test the User Experience of the Alexa interface. We tested for driver distraction, interaction design and type readability.
Widget Design System
This is the prototype of the design system for the Amazon Smart vehicle concept. The idea was to create widget that you choose as per your personal choice. There is an interactive map on the right side as a canvas. And underneath there is a Media player. The idea is to create a platform for smart vehicles where various apps and applets run within the car’s ecosystem.
Invocation Design
The invocation prototype was a design exploration of interaction design for invocation for Alexa inside the car. I worked on a custom voice interface engine that works in browser. The voice engine , included speech detection , voice to text and invocation and intent detection , built all on device system. The prototype was designed in CSS and JS to emulate the interaction of a Car HMI . The following videos shows the progress videos of the prototype.
First iteration
Grid Layout with Speech intelligence
Prototype with invocation , single press.
Invocation , hold and speak interaction
Invocation , voice invocation.
Final prototype
Hold On : Pausing conversation
This is the prototype for a concept , for a safe driving feature. Here users can pause the voice interaction , that gets saved as a widget. Users can tap the saved widget to resume the conversation at the point it was paused. User can say , “ hold on” in the middle of the conversation and Alexa understands that the conversation is to be saved as a widget and state is saved within it. This is eventually patented.
